The fact that it was dark and the pain was nearly unbearable were her first coherent thoughts. Secondary to that came the amusing thought that floating around in the darkness was a bit silly. Still, there was a faint light yet moving toward that hurt. Registering that it hurt soon caused her realize that it was a futile effort when pain became agony. She decided she was not going toward that light under any circumstances. No sir! She'd avoid that at all costs.

She'd simply stay in..

What was this..

Her arms refused to move? Her legs, too, wouldn't move properly for her to float downward away from that pressing light. Her mind screamed in panic before the touch of the darkness calmed her again.

Koda was certainly not going to be happy that she lost her arms and legs. Her mind had the fleeting thought.

Why would he be mad at her for losing her limbs? It certainly wasn't her fault..?

.. was it?

She couldn't really remember why she was unable to find her limbs but ..hmm, it couldn't be helped. She'd simply float in the darkness for all eternity if that was what it took to avoid that relentless pain. Why she hurt, she couldn't remember either.

How odd, she mused, that such never ending pain had no memory attached to it.

She forced herself to think for a moment about what she could remember.

Her dragon.. yes.. no, he wasn't here in the darkness with her.. that was never a good sign. He was probably off getting fat with people always slipping him treats. Ha! As if he needed treats.. or maybe the elves got him or that horrid human that ate dragons! No! She wouldn't let that happen.. well, she'd stop that later, maybe.. the darkness' embrace was soothing for now. Koda would keep him safe.

Koda! She could remember Koda.. making him smile and biting him for being a goblin.. Koda, too, wasn't with her in this darkness. Strange, Koda was never too far away that she couldn't see or find him if he got lost. Silly man, always getting so lost. That was okay, she'd find him! ..but it hurt.. so maybe it would wait.

She remembered Him of course.. Lacrier.. the presence that was always with her and visiting her in a.. tree? The One Tree, of course! Her home.

Well, her memory couldn't be helped and the darkness was easily navigated.

She could hear noises suddenly though, it sounding like a war was going on. She'd be concerned by that fact but it hurt too much to venture further toward that noise but.. she was vaguely curious. She did float toward the noise for a moment, an involuntary cry coming from her crushed and battered form, before she sunk back down to the darkness that held her without the pain.

The tiny dragon sported a few wounds but instantly clung against the man's leg who had indeed come to its rescue. Perhaps hindering the process of uncovering the pixie but the dragon would refuse to budge, knowing the man would keep the creature safe from any further onslaught. He continued to let out agitated and distressed noises as the stones were pulled away.

Kease stretched languidly before curling back up under the blanket. It wasn't very long before her small attempt at returning to sleep was disturbed by the stretching of the little dragon, his claws kneading at her legs relentlessly.

"Okay! I am awake already, you overgrown bug" she laughed and hopped out of the hollow log she used for her bed. The little dragon followed closely at her heels, chirping idly with excitement.

Brushing strands of her hair out of her face, she took a moment to stand on the very edge of a branch in order to watch the brilliant colours of the sunrise streak across the sky. Soon enough, however, they gave way to the sun and she danced along the branch back into the One Tree. Within a few quick moments, Kease had all her things stuffed into her pouch for the day and skipped down a few branches to speak with the human guardian Orcadia and the sprite known as Torianel.

"Goood morning to you both! It's a wonderful day to go walking don't you think?" Kease announced breathlessly as she came to a halt before the two. They both took a moment out of studying the surroundings for danger to smile indulgently at the little pixie who had won their fierce devotion from day one.

Orcadia nodded once before offering a bite of food for Kease to tuck away into her pouch. "You be safe out there, Kease! If Koda comes looking for you, where shall I tell him you are off to?" Torianel chimed in "Yes, you know he'll come looking for you as per always and we all want you safe and sound, he's scary when he's being serious" she tittered before adding "And, he's quite a good-looking man." The two older women shared a knowing smile as Kease fidgeted in place, her dragon at her heels nipping at her leg restlessly.

Kease thought about it for a very long moment before offering a sly smile. "You should tell him that I am heading east to the seagulls to feed them today!" The two ladies nodded with another quick smile for the pixie before returning their attention to watching the surrounding area for any and all threats to the One Tree. Neither of them caught the pixie and the little dragon slip out and head west.

Zipping along the western road she took a sharp turn to the north and headed through the Kaer Tzoun mountain range. Here and there she'd stop to hover over a flower or a plant or something colourful on the path, her little dragon snapping up random berries which each and every stop. She shook her head wryly at the dragon's enormous appetite and his small stature.

So lost was she in her thoughts that she did not see the dark shadow above her, nor her dragon's cry of distress before she was completely knocked out of the sky by an extremely forceful blow which became a relentless attack of claws and bites. It took her an agonizing second as she struggled to gather her wits about her. She staggered to her feet through the claws that tore and shredded her skin so easily and turned to run in a stumbled panic. Her little dragon, though fierce, was easily knocked to the side as the harpy continued after Kease who was rapidly becoming covered in slashes and gashes and leaving a bloody trail against the rocky ground.

Kease whimpered in distress before spotting a small opening in the mountain and made one last dash toward it, managing to duck in through the hole in the rocks before harpy crashed into it at full speed. The force of the harpy's body caused the rocks to shudder and start to fall and batter her while covering the exit entirely. Her last conscious thought was the hope that Koda would come before the rocks finally sent her falling into the respite the darkness offered.

Outside of the hole, the little dragon fretted and let out keening distress calls as it made futile attempts to get through the rocks. Only a cloud of thick dust remained of the frantic fight, the harpy long dead and buried in the rock slide.
