Clans of Tharel

The clans of Tharel are the basis for the player killing system.  Each one of the clans is based on a religion (or religions) from one of the gods or goddesses of the land.  Their goals vary but clans are generally comprised of the most devout and zealous of the worshippers of a god.  Their alliances and enemies are always similar to those of their deities and their purposes follow the same system of beliefs present in their temples.

Each clan has different entrance requirements and requirements for advancement.  Joining the player killing system and a clan are serious steps in the progression of a character and should not be taken lightly.  The land of Tharel currently has ten clans available to join.

If you wish to find out more about a clan, please check the help files on this site or on the mud. Each clan has many help files detailing its rules and roleplay.

Styrian

Eligible religions: Elbar

We are the true force of nature and ours is the holiest of duties. Where the winds gather and the rain falls, where the lightning dances across the heavens and thunder rolls along the plains, that is where you shall find us. The Storm allows nature to grow - the old tree will not survive the Storm, either because it is too weak or inflexible, and falls. From this destruction comes new possibility, a younger tree will grow in that same spot and flourish. For too long, civilisation has hidden itself away from the natural justice of the Storm. Our duty is to bring the Storm to civilisation, to destroy the weak and the inflexible in order to allow new ideas to take root where once they could not. Without change, civilisation is doomed to stagnate and and crumble under its own weight and we must prevent that from happening.

Ruatani

Eligible religions: Sylune, Markov, Mahrina

This secretive order is steeped in tradition, and shrouded in mystery. The Ruatani are usually followers of Sylune or Markov, although occasionally followers of Mahrina have been spotted within their ranks. Ruatani are not armored knights who defend city walls, however, when called upon to fight, the Ruatani will come out of the underground to stand firmly beside their brethren. The Ruatani prefer to go unseen, moving through the shadows and under cover of darkness, invading those places where the legions of Chaos and Evil feel safe. If the Order of the SnowRose can be thought Paladins, then the Conclave of Ruatani are their Ranger counterparts, no less dedicated to the cause, but not adverse to using some of the enemy's own tactics against them. Often seen as vigilantes, this image suits them fine, and it is accurate enough. When the Law fails to stem the tide, the Ruatani step in, taking sometimes drastic measures. There is Law, and there is Order. The two are not the same, and Laws may sometimes be broken if necessary to preserve Order.
