The clans of Tharel are the basis for the player killing system. Each one of the clans is based on a religion (or religions) from one of the gods or goddesses of the land. Their goals vary but clans are generally comprised of the most devout and zealous of the worshippers of a god. Their alliances and enemies are always similar to those of their deities and their purposes follow the same system of beliefs present in their temples.
Each clan has different entrance requirements and requirements for advancement. Joining the player killing system and a clan are serious steps in the progression of a character and should not be taken lightly. The land of Tharel currently has ten clans available to join.
If you wish to find out more about a clan, please check the help files on this site or on the mud. Each clan has many help files detailing its rules and roleplay.

Eligible religions: Crifus, Barbades, Gedria, Mahrina, Kiara
Virtue...
How many meanings could one word have? But as the name of our clan, it means a lot to us. We try and spread good by bringing words of hope and love to the people in Tharel that know so little of either. Evil tends to flourish where the hopeless thrive, and love is no longer present. We seek to prove that the old ways of hatred and anger aren't necessarily the best ways. We offer our services wherever we can, not discriminating unless given a very very good reason to. Usually this help comes at no charge. And never at the cost of innocent lives - never.
To cure the lands of evil and help bring a peaceful life to all - Crifus, may we stick true to your ideals.
If you hold close to your heart a world of little anger and pain, a world of hope... if you only wish to help people where and when they need it... if hatred and anger have lack a good hold over your heart... perhaps Virtue is for you.
Eligible religions: Vallien, Markov, Sylune
A vast darkness once covered all of Tharel. As the minions of Ytrewtsu and the other evil gods roamed the land, they slaughtered all who did not bow before them. All seemed lost; there was no hope. A light appeared in the darkness. A small band of knights, loyal to the fallen knight named Vallien, appeared seemingly from no where. They rallied others in the land to fight the sweeping darkness, to fend it off. In their valiant fight, they were at last defeated. The knights were slaughtered by demons of the Dark Lord Yrewtsu. But their memory lived on, and so once again rose the Order of the Snow Rose.
Honor. Loyalty. Bravery. Defending the Innocent. These are what the Knights of the Order believe in. They live to defend the innocent, and fight the darkness that covers the land. They live to fight for all that is good, and are willing to sacrifice their lives for their beliefs. To become a Knight of the Order you must be strong of heart, mind, and body. As a knight you will be expected to uphold the ideals of the Church of Vallien. Honorable combat is required; no poisons or backstabbing. Honor can only come by meeting your foe face to face on the battle field.
Only the strongest and bravest fighters are allowed to join the ranks of the Order. If you feel you are worthy, petition to join the Order of the Snow Rose.
In a time where order and light plague the land, Tzatru stands strong, battling the forces of good and placing fear into the hearts of the pure.
A devoted sect of the church of Ytrewtsu, lord of death and destruction, Tzatru's goals include ridding the land of purity and bringing the Rod of Destruction, the main drive of their lust for power in the land of Tharel, to the King of Terrors. Only the strong and the most devoted to His cause will find themselves within this entryway to the Abyss, before the dwelling of the most feared Lord Ytrewtsu Himself.
Strong enough to prove yourself of the Dark Lord? The Church of Tzatru welcomes you into its cruel embrace with open arms.. join the path of death and destruction, and fulfill your darkest of dreams.

We are the true force of nature and ours is the holiest of duties. Where the winds gather and the rain falls, where the lightning dances across the heavens and thunder rolls along the plains, that is where you shall find us. The Storm allows nature to grow - the old tree will not survive the Storm, either because it is too weak or inflexible, and falls. From this destruction comes new possibility, a younger tree will grow in that same spot and flourish. For too long, civilisation has hidden itself away from the natural justice of the Storm. Our duty is to bring the Storm to civilisation, to destroy the weak and the inflexible in order to allow new ideas to take root where once they could not. Without change, civilisation is doomed to stagnate and and crumble under its own weight and we must prevent that from happening.
Eligible religions: Sylune, Markov, Mahrina
This secretive order is steeped in tradition, and shrouded in mystery. The Ruatani are usually followers of Sylune or Markov, although occasionally followers of Mahrina have been spotted within their ranks. Ruatani are not armored knights who defend city walls, however, when called upon to fight, the Ruatani will come out of the underground to stand firmly beside their brethren. The Ruatani prefer to go unseen, moving through the shadows and under cover of darkness, invading those places where the legions of Chaos and Evil feel safe. If the Order of the SnowRose can be thought Paladins, then the Conclave of Ruatani are their Ranger counterparts, no less dedicated to the cause, but not adverse to using some of the enemy's own tactics against them. Often seen as vigilantes, this image suits them fine, and it is accurate enough. When the Law fails to stem the tide, the Ruatani step in, taking sometimes drastic measures. There is Law, and there is Order. The two are not the same, and Laws may sometimes be broken if necessary to preserve Order.
Eligible religions: Vyrul, Cylad
The shifting counter-balancing weight on the scales of Tharel, the syndicate known as Parilis seeks to find and maintain the ultimate balance between light and dark. Under the mandate of Vyrul's unfaltering judgement, whether by strength-of-arms or diplomacy, Parilis' checks upon the land's vying powers are swift and just.
Parilis' members come from the temples of Vyrul and Cylad, and are versed in the arts and studies of war, history, politics, and law. Most importantly, those within the organisation of Parilis must display a thorough understanding of of balance, both in concept and application.
Those who see only good and evil will soon bear witness to another, more transcendent force. A force that will equalize the whole of Tharel with righteous objectivity. Those who understand the value of our goals and are willing to dedicated themselves to the realm with selfless dedication are welcome to petition for entry.
Eligible religions: Jirah
A clan of darkness and mystery, Sophism is a secret matriarchal society of tempters and schemers. They walk unseen in the shadows, hidden from their enemies, until the precise moment to strike hard and unyielding, and then fade away without a trace. The main goal of Sophism is to gather power for Jirah. Some sophists grow strong and work for Jirah as assassins. Most take a more subtle approach and poison the minds of their enemies with deception and misinformation to create internal strife that over comes them. Constantly struggling against the powers of light, Sophism seeks to blanket all the world in perpetual shadow. They tempt goodly people away from their righteous paths and into a world of darkness. A world where people make love to their enemies, then murder them in their sleep. A world where the night is not safe for the innocent to tread. A world where treacherous usurpers rule all kingdoms and make the people smile as they take their beatings.
Would you help them rule this world?
